If you receive an offer following Assessment Day, this will be conditional on achieving the necessary entry requirements. You'll need to either provide evidence you have already met these, or you'll be required to evidence this on your results day.

.

You will receive an offer pack with all the information required to consider this offer, including your employment contract, terms and conditions, and relevant programme and employment information.

If you receive an offer you will also be required to pass relevant employment checks, administered by Dyson Technology Ltd. which include:

  • ID verification
  • proof of National Insurance
  • adverse media check (published material; not social media)
  • basic DBS check

.

When you join the Dyson Institute, you will sign a number of documents including an employment contract with Dyson Technology Limited. The employment contract is a permanent employment contract that reflects the journey from an undergraduate to a fully-fledged Dyson engineer. After graduation you will transition to the next step in your Dyson career, where you will take on a full-time role in Dyson. This role will provide you with individual, accelerated progression opportunities designed to develop future project, people and technology leaders who will take a key role in progressing Dyson’s next generation of innovative technology globally.

As an undergraduate at the Dyson Institute, you will pay no tuition fees. Instead, you will be a permanently employed and salaried member of staff. In exchange for Dyson’s significant investment in you by funding your four years of study, you will be expected to complete a minimum of two years employment, post-graduation. Should you opt to leave Dyson within two years of graduation, then Dyson will seek to recuperate a proportion of the costs associated to the funding of your MEng degree.

Your notice period will be 12 weeks throughout your undergraduate studies and will remain unchanged following your graduation.

Dyson can, in certain circumstances, agree to accept a shorter period of notice on a fully discretionary basis. Examples of when that discretion might be exercised include scenarios where your personal circumstances materially change such that you cannot continue working or studying. This may include health difficulties, or caring responsibilities.

As an Undergraduate Engineer, you'll have some benefits specific to your role including the range of support provided by the Dyson Institute, but as a Dyson engineer you’re also entitled to similar employee benefits as all Dyson people.

.

As an Undergraduate Engineer, you’ll start on a competitive salary of £22,000. The salary will then increase each year, based on market rates.

.

You'll receive a generous holiday entitlement of approximately 41 days, plus eight bank holidays. This is a mixture of approximately ten days 'annual leave' which you can book any time (excluding study days), and 31 days 'academic leave', distributed at key points in the programme:

  • Two weeks over Christmas (including two bank holidays)
  • One week in February
  • Two weeks around April/May depending on Easter and the academic calendar (usually including two bank holidays)
  • Two weeks in summer

.

As a Dyson employee, you'll be eligible for a range of benefits:

Financial

  • Discretionary, non-contractual bonus
  • Company paid life assurance
  • Discounts on Dyson machines
  • Competitive pension scheme

We offer plenty of opportunities to learn more about the programme, life at the Dyson Institute and your potential year group between receiving an offer and joining in September.

.

We hold a pre-joining day for all offer-holders in early July. The event is held at our campus in Malmesbury and enables offer-holders to:

  • Meet their future year group, Dyson Institute staff, colleagues and current Undergraduates in an informal setting.
  • Visit the Dyson Technology campus again.
  • Hear about any changes at the Dyson Institute.
  • Have a conversation about any specific support requests/needs/concerns.
  • Ask any questions of Dyson Institute staff and current undergraduates.

We don’t want finance to be a barrier to anyone attending this event and will reimburse reasonable travel expenses. See Applicant support for more details.

.

We host a range of webinars with topics ranging from women in engineering and sustainability.

.

You'll have a single point of contact for any questions you may have in the run up to joining us in September.

On results day you'll need to call us with details of the grades you achieved, so we know if you have met the conditions of your offer. Further details will be shared with you, closer to the time.

.

Move-in day will be during the first week of September. You'll be allocated a 2-hour arrival window and all new undergraduates move in on the same day.

You'll have two days of orientation, familiarising yourself with campus, the local area and getting to know each other. Induction will start the following Monday.

.
