You'll never be bored.

At the Dyson Institute, you’ll never be bored. A whole series of social activities are organised by the Undergraduate Experience Committee, like go-karting, cookery classes with Joe Croan (our formidable head chef, who was trained by the Michelin-starred Marco Pierre White), ice skating, cheering on Bath Rugby, and much more. There are numerous clubs and societies to get involved in, within both the Institute and Dyson – as well as opportunities in the local community. There’s also the famous Dyson Christmas Party and Summer Celebration.  

The student social team also provides a free fortnightly coach service to Bath or Bristol for the evening, and even supports an annual ski trip. And this is all on top of the bars, cafés, shops, music and events in nearby Bristol, Bath, Gloucester, and the numerous Cotswold towns that surround us.  

Undergraduate Experience Committee

The Undergraduate Experience Committee (UEC) is our formal student representative body and forms part of the governance structure of the Dyson Institute. The UEC ensures that there’s a student voice at all levels and across the breadth of the student experience. They offer feedback, advice and consultation to the Dyson Institute team on new proposals, projects and initiatives. They're also responsible for leading, organising and facilitating social events and activities.   

The UEC enables effective communication across all year groups, and between the Institute team and the student body. Elected student representatives hold positions that reflect key aspects of Institute life, including:

Shaping and developing the experience

We work with our students as partners in shaping the current and future student experience. Our student engagement approach ensures that students are at the heart of decision making at all levels of the Dyson Institute, from day-to-day operational matters, projects and developments to strategic decision-making and governance.
