Overview

The programme is a combination of Master’s level learning and application in a global technology company. As such the learning outcomes of the programme are designed to meet the educational requirements for the Chartered Engineer level of the Engineering Council’s Standard for Professional Engineering Competence and Commitment.

Chartered Engineers develop solutions to complex engineering problems using new or existing technologies, and through innovation, creativity and technical analysis. On successful completion of the programme graduates shall be able to:

  • Design, develop, and manufacture engineering processes, systems, services and/or products by evaluating and applying appropriate theoretical and practical methods

  • Design experiments and simulations to acquire and evaluate data to solve industrial engineering problems

  • Assess how different systems within an engineering product or process interact and affect performance

  • Provide technical management through the planning and implementation of projects, management of tasks and resources

  • Summarise and tailor the communication of complex engineering problems to stakeholders requiring different levels of information; present and discuss proposals

  • Manage and apply safe systems of work to comply with relevant codes of conduct

  • Design and develop engineering solutions in a way that contributes to sustainable development

  • Undertake engineering activities in a responsible and ethical manner, recognising the responsibilities, benefits and importance of equality, diversity and inclusion
